Today is Blog Action Day. It is a day when bloggers around the web unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind. Today the single important issue is the environment, hence, the title of this post, which is also what I say to my stepsons whenever they leave a room without turning off the light or the computer or the television or the video game…
I know this message may seem overly simplistic, but it works. In our family we find the image of a baby polar bear, who may not live to adulthood if global warming continues on its current path, to be a touching and poignant image that reminds us that even the little things make a difference.
So today, whether you’re a blogger, mother, father or single woman, remember that collectively, we just might be able to stop the extinction of polar bears and slow the destruction of our beautiful planet, if we all turn off the lights. And tomorrow, remember to turn off the lights and think of one another little thing that you can do to make a global change. For example, eat an orange and compost it’s skin instead of eating a bag of chips and throwing away the plastic bag or take the bus instead of your car.
Together, we can make a difference.
