Victoria Perrett, a “trained psychotherapist”, discusses the “feelings” side of divorce like your girlfriend or mother might. Her writing style is somewhat lighthearted and easily relatable. She briefly addresses the general stages and multitude of issues you might face in divorce however; by no means is this a technical divorce manual. It does not set forth specific legal divorce procedures nor does it discuss state specific divorce laws. Thus, if you are looking for an easy read that quickly and generally gives you an idea of what to expect and how to handle various aspects of divorce, this book may be what you’re looking for. Surviving Divorce (52 Brilliant Ideas): Your Roadmap Through the Emotional and Financial Maze (52 BRILLIANT IDEAS) can be read and re-read numerous times during divorce but it shouldn’t be the only text you read or rely upon. Make sure it is only a supplement to the other much more in depth, state specific divorce books you read.

The first and second events included a Women’s Meditation session and Dialogues with Women, a relationship workshop, both hosted by the lovely Sharon Maser Danaceau, Director of the Women’s School of Healing Arts & Sciences. Sharon is a warm person whose heart and soul are dedicated to empowering and nurturing women, and I am thrilled to have met her. The third event I attended was BlogHer 08. If you aren’t familiar with BlogHer, you can find everything you need to know on their site. This event, as always, was GREAT! Picture at least 1,000 hip, energetic, excited women getting together for three days to connect, learn and celebrate! It was wonderful and I met some great women, whom I will introduce you to over the next few weeks. The fourth and final event I attended recently was the Bay Area Business Women News‘ Women WorkIt Event hosted by Debra Costner. It was an event filled with lively women coming together to network and support their fellow business women. It was a great night and made even better when I won one of the raffle prizes – YEAH!

“What do these events have to do with dealing with divorce?”, you ask. They are examples of the multitude of activities sponsored by and for women that can lift your spirits, make you feel surrounded by positive energy and help you move through your divorce. So, if you are feeling lonely, unsupported or uncertain of your future and would like to make new friends and business connections, take time today to find and select group activities that you can participate in over the weekend or next week that will introduce you to the women in your community. You’ll probably be surprised by how much fun you can have even if you are facing, in the midst of, or dealing with the end of your divorce.

This “don’t miss” event for women who are separated, divorced or facing divorce features Chellie Campbell, award-winning speaker and author of The Wealthy Spirit: Daily Affirmations for Financial Stress Reduction and Zero to Zillionaire. It also features seminars that will be presented by a team of financial and legal experts who can guide you through some of the most difficult challenges you may be facing.
