Divorce Notes on the Web and around the World
Today’s online articles about divorce that you may find interesting or annoying or that might just make you smirk:
CNN Money.com’s “Divorced from you, still married to your money” - My first glance at this article’s title made me think of alimony (i.e. wanting to kick out the man, but keep his money), but I was wrong. In this piece a Money Magazine “senior” writer talks about the importance of changing beneficiary designations, wills and trusts after divorce, which btw, is very important if you don’t want your ex raking in the loot when you die.
Tie the Knot’s post written by Kelly Chang Rickert, “Should I Get a Prenup, and When?” - This is my favorite line in the article: “You may as well do it yourself on a piece of toilet paper, and then flush it.” - Love it! You’re probably thinking “This is a divorce website, why should I care about prenuptial agreements??!” - You should care because momma wants to make sure you have one if you ever get remarried!! And remember, the prenup doesn’t have to say “all or nothing”, it can say “fifty-fifty, baby!”
News.com.au’s “Spurned wife defends tell-all YouTube videos” - This one puts forth a crazy proposition: that the ranting wife’s tell-all YouTube videos are spousal abuse! Good god! I feel quite confident that if you asked a real victim of spousal abuse for her opinion as to whether or not the YouTube videos are “abuse”, you’d get an earful! Slander? Maybe. Spousal Abuse? Don’t get me started!
Melissa Tula’s “Divorced with Children” - I had to include a link to this article because it’s a rarity - Melissa actually likes her ex-husband’s new wife and wants her ex to be happy! Yeah to Melissa, and what a lucky ex!
“The M-Reality” - a personal and thoughtful post about Marriage
And lastly, the biggest celebrity divorce question on everyone’s minds is: “Are Madonna and Guy Ritchie getting divorced?” If they are, I’ve gotta hand it to her, I didn’t think her marriage would last more than 10 minutes!
