Ties that Bind
Making the decision to divorce is rarely easy. It is especially difficult if you’re focused on the ties that reasonably or unreasonably bind you and your husband, including: your children, husband’s drug addiction or physical illness, stay-at-home mom or student status, lack of income, debt or owning a home together.
If you dwell on any actual or perceived obstacles, you’ll probably never end your unhappy or disatsifying marrige. If, however, you stop using cirucmstances as an excuse (i.e. your grown husband will have to do his own laundry) and start overcoming any real obstaces (i.e. finding a job and day care for your children) you’ll probably have the means to move out, move on and make it on your own. Not to mention, you’ll be empowered with new found self confidence when you face and overcome your challenges.
Cutting ties that bind is rarely easy. It takes great strength and courage and requires hard work, commitment and perseverance. So, if you lack drive or faith, pulling out those scissors may never happen. But, if on the other hand, you’re like so many incredible mothers and women we know, who change diapers, raise children, run marathons, survive disease, care for siblings and parents, work two jobs or build businesses, we know those shears will move magically to severe that which no longer serves you.
We have faith, now it’s up to you to believe.
