The Costs of Trial

In the heat of divorce it’s easy to yell “I’ll see you in court!” It’s also easy to envision a judge reprimanding your husband and declaring you the winner of your legal battle. What isn’t so easy, is stomaching the seemingly never ending legal bills and emotional pain created by litigation. So, before you declare civil war, consider all possible costs to determine whether it’s worth the price you’ll pay. Additionally, ask yourself whether that which you stand to gain exceeds what you might lose. If it doesn’t, don’t go to trial unless you have no choice.

This article is not legal advice. You should consult an attorney if you have legal questions that relate to your specific divorce.
