Allegations of Abuse

If you’re in an abusive relationship, get help. Call the National Domestic Violence 24 Hour Hotline at 800-799-SAFE or contact a Domestic Violence Coalition in your State.

If you’re not in an abusive relationship and your husband has never abused you or your children, DO NOT make allegations of abuse. Abuse is a crime and it should never be alleged against a man who is innocent. Not only will the allegations damage your husband’s relationship with his children, it can turn an amicable divorce into a costly, drawn out legal battle.

This article is not legal advice. You should consult an attorney if you have legal questions that relate to your specific divorce.
