How To Move On After Divorce

For many women, divorce is a traumatic event filled with hopelessness and despair. Faced with the unknown, feelings of rejection, depression, abandonment, fear and uncertainty flourish. These feelings are common, but may be avoided or minimized by taking the following steps:

1. Acknowledge and accept that your marriage is over.
2. Stop asking yourself “what went wrong?”
3. Refrain from placing blame.
4. Talk about your feelings with a trustworthy and nonjudgmental friend.
5. Develop a positive mindset, focusing on the countless possibilities ahead of you.
6. Find strength in the stories of other women who are happily divorced.
7. Take action to create a beautiful new life. Set goals and begin achieving them.
8. Remind yourself that you are an extraordinary woman who will be happy again.

“If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.” William Arthur Ward
