STOP THE VIOLENCE NOW!

There are thousands of resources across the country for women in abusive relationships. These include safe houses, legal representation programs, and a wide array of organizations that provide invaluable services to women in need. It is our goal to help you find these resources so you can get the type of help you need to be safe, happy and free. We’ll do our best to cover a broad spectrum and geographical area, but as you can imagine, it’ll be impossible for us to include every resource available for you, and it’ll take some time for us to share many of them with you. So, if you’re looking for something specific we haven’t yet addressed, please let us know and we’ll do our best to help you find it. (This is an ongoing process so please check regularly for updates.)

Legal Advocates for Abused Women (LAAW) is a non-profit “dedicated to helping victims of abuse during times of crisis, working within the legal system, law enforcement, and the court. The Free Legal Representation Program serves low-income battered women and their children with free legal representation at Order of Protection hearings. LAAW serves St. Louis City and the Counties of St. Louis, St. Charles, Franklin, Jefferson, Lincoln, Warren, and Washington.”

SafeHouse Denver has “26 beds plus cribs, serving more than 340 women and children in a typical year. In addition, SafeHouse serves hundreds more women and children through non-residential services, which include individual counseling, advocacy support groups, legal assistance and referrals to other services.” Their 24 hour crisis phone number is 303-318-9989.

The Asian Shelter and Advocacy Project (ASAP) provides safety, advocacy, and “an environment where Asian women and their children feel understood and supported as they begin the healing process. ASAP is an initiative of the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence located in Massachusetts and their 24 crisis hotline number is 617.338.2355.

Alianza - National Latino Alliance “Alianza’s mission is to: promote understanding, initiate and sustain dialogue, and generate solutions that move toward the elimination of domestic violence affecting Latino communities, with an understanding of the sacredness of all relations and communities…In an effort to address the issue of domestic violence in Latino communities, ALIANZA has created the National Directory of Domestic Violence Programs Offering Services in Spanish.”
