“Misery Loves Company”, And Lots Of It
In the midst of divorce it’s easy to think you’re alone, with no one to share your sorrows. This is a common belief, but rarely true. There are thousands of people who can provide solace in your time of despair. They’re all around you, and many are just a few clicks away.
There are online support groups like Dealing With Divorce where you can chat with others in similar situations. You can also find comfort in other women’s divorce succes stories posted on their personal blogs, or tips on healing after the loss of love. Laughter also abounds on the internet, and can be tapped into daily. Some of our favorite websites and blogs where you can find this support include Divorced At 50, written by Vic, who’s thriving after her husband of several decades ended their marriage.
The Mommy Blog, written by a mother of three whom, after ending her twelve-year marriage and surviving the high tech collapse of Silicon Valley, is madly in love with her children and a great new man. Mindy recently posted this bit on her blog, which makes me laugh whenever I listen to it. Make sure you’re volume is turned up on your computer.
The Break-up Repair Kit beautifully addresses the stages of healing, provides tips for getting back in the single’s game, and includes great stories of other women’s feeble attempts at dating.
dooce, written by Heather B. Armstrong, makes even the most mundane day-to-day experiences humorous. In the blogging world, she has an incredible following and it’s well deserved. (Be sure to read her “About Us” page on her blog.) Heather is also a contributor to Alpha Mom.
